Lesson Of The Day: Black Man Lost

Keeping It Real: Why is it when some Black men dates a NON Black woman then dates a Black woman again, his opinion of his sistas change?

You want to date a non-Black woman, I have no problem with that but there's no need to disrespect us because you have lost your way!

Our aggressiveness used to be the STRONG woman you so desired! Our need to be independent suddenly becomes we want to be THE MAN! Our hearty laugh becomes we are too loud!

In my opinion, the Black men that find us lacking is saying a lot about their own feelings ESPECIALLY if they have Black grannies, mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, nieces and girl cousins! It speaks volumes to me!

No need to put them on a pedestal above us just to "justify" why you are dating out! Just date them without dissing your sisters! Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: More Black Facts & Tidbits...

Keeping It Real: In 1897, African-American inventor Alfred Cralle patented the first ice cream scoop. His original design remains in wide use, even today.

George T. Sampson invented a clothes dryer that used heat from a stove in 1892.

Nathaniel Alexander was the first to patent the folding chair. His invention was designed to be used in schools, churches and at large social gatherings.

George Carruthers invented the far ultraviolet electrographic camera, used in the 1972 Apollo 16 mission. This invention revealed new features in Earth's far-outer atmosphere and deep-space objects from the perspective of the lunar surface. Carruthers was inducted into the National Inventor's Hall of Fame in 2003.

African-American inventor Garrett Augustus Morgan created the gas mask—then became renowned for using his mask to save workers trapped in a toxic fume-filled tunnel. He also invented, among many other things, a three-way automatic stop sign, which he sold to General Electric. It was used in the U.S. until the three-light traffic sign was developed.

Lesson Of The Day: Never Judge A Book By Its Cover...

Keeping It Real: Seriously!!!! When I was married, this traveling salesman came to my home selling perfume oils! I had just finished cooking my dinner and I had made some neckbones with black eyed peas, candied sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese & hot water cornbread patties!

As I was browsing through his many selections, he said " wow, that food sure smells good"! Oh yeah, he was a white man around 35 years old and I give him the spiel on what I had cooked and he says "  I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE neck bones & black eyed peas! A white man loving neckbones & peas just didn't fit the picture, so me, being the generous person I am & also wanting to call him on it just to see, because I knew in my heart, this white man DID NOT EAT neckbones & black eyed peas! OK!!!!, I invited him to dinner! He had mentioned he was staying in a motel & was eating fast food before I even offered him the meal!

Long story short, when this man pulled off his jacket and put a HUMP in his back, he ate them neckbones & black eyed peas like it was his LAST SUPPER!! I couldn't believe, he knew how to pull the bones apart and get all the meat (neck bone eaters know exactly what I am talking about, LOL) ! Brotherman asked for a 2nd helping of them! I was too outdone!

So, never judge a book by its cover because they might eat up all your food! Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Father, I Thank You

Keeping It Real: Father, I come before You this morning thanking You for waking me up this morning! I enter into Your courts with Thanksgiving and Your gates with Praise! I declare Father that this is the day that You have made and I will rejoice and be exceedingly glad in it! Thank You Father for being the Messiah in my life. My banner, my shield and my strong tower! Thank You Father for being all that You are to me. I will never find anyone to be as good to me as You are. I Love You! In Jesus' Name, Amen! Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Some Of The Messiest Folks Are...

Keeping It Real: IN CHURCH!!! They gossip, lie, fornicate, keep up so much devilment and don't let them have a piece of change, they turn their noses up & down at you! Some think their shit don't stank and they are better than you BUT mind you, they praising, shouting, yelling for Jesus, EVERY Sunday!!!

To quote, one of my favorite singers, Lyfe Jennings:

Lord they really think they fooling you by coming to church on Sunday, praying and laying hands on folks stomping and jumping around faking the holy ghost, but its a thin line between walking it and talking it
living it and giving it or just pretending it's alright. And did they really think that they could pull the wool over your eyes lord did they really think that by faking they were saved that they would get the same reward,
this be the realest thing I ever wrote for sure. After this a lot of folks wont like me no mo' but after this I gotta go answer to you Lord so I've made up my mind, I'm a go to church on Sunday and sing a song that may hurt somebody's feelings so that maybe thy will, will be done on earth as it is in heaven and hopefully they will see
how much they really be discouraging a little old sinner like me.

And Lord who they think they jiving by singing these songs full of glory then out in the world it's a different story, I'm running out of people to pray for me. I'm not trying to act like I'm the perfect woman but if you speak about it, you should be about it not just preach about it all day cause if you do you run the risk of chasing some of the most beautiful people away and it is never my intention to discourage you rather encourage you to change your life today this be the realest thing I ever had to say, but after this a lot of folks wont like me no mo' but after this I gotta go answer to you Lord so I've made up my mind I'm a go to church on Sunday and sing a song that may hurt somebody's feelings so that maybe thy will, will be done on earth as it is in heaven and hopefully they will see how much they really be discouraging a little old sinner like me. Lesson Of The Day: American Idol & African American Contestants

Keeping It Real: WHAT THE HELL??? Out of 24 finalists to compete, NONE WERE Black females and 2, possibly 3 ( I don't know if the Brackensick boy, with the long, curly hair  is Black) males were chosen out 24??? Are they freaking serious? Not one Black female, not one??? Randy, are you serious? JLO, are you serious? Steve, are you serious?

I feel the ratio should be 3 of each!

Lesson Of The Day: Black Fact

Keeping It Real: African-American history is not just for the books! Most people live it everyday, thanks in part to Black visionaries and trailblazers in the arts, medicine & politics who intentionally and sometimes accidentally invented, created, discovered or dared to do something for their times which lives on in OURS & still impact us today!! Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: And More Black Facts & Tidbits..

Keeping It Real: In 1904, African-American gym teacher Edwin Henderson learned the game of basketball while at a summer conference at Harvard University. Henderson introduced the game to the students at the segregated public schools of Washington, D.C., where it gained widespread popularity. For this, Henderson earned the title of "Father of Black Basketball.

"Cathay Williams was the one and only female Buffalo Soldier, posing as a man named William Cathay to enlist in the 38th infantry in 1866. She served for two years before a doctor discovered that she was a woman, leading to her discharge.

Michael Jeffery Jordan, one of basketball's all-time best players, was born in Brooklyn, NY, on Feb.17th in 1963.

Alexander Miles of Duluth, Minnesota patented an electric elevator in 1887 with automatic doors that would close off the shaft way, thus making elevators safer.Black ingenuity helped devise creative — and effective — plans to escape enslavement.

In 1848, husband-and-wife team William and Ellen Craft made it to the North, and eventually England, when she dressed as a white man and he posed as one of her slaves. A year later, Henry “Box” Brown literally mailed himself to freedom in a shipping box during a 27-hour trip from Richmond to Philadelphia.

Lesson Of The Day: Highest Civilian Honor-Maya Angelou

Keeping It Real: President Obama presents Maya Angelou with the highest civilian honor and to quote my sisterfriend, Viola Tucker, " I am so glad that Father GOD allowed me to continue living so I can see this...What an honor to see my SHEro and my HEro... both having the highest honor in this country.. Lesson Of The Day: Heroes, Gone & Never Forgotten

Keeping It Real: No disrespect to Whitney Houston and the other celebrities who have died in the past year, most deaths involving drugs, alcohol or both. All the media attention is nauseating. Seriously, Whitney's body was flown home on a private jet and her jet was met with a gold car to transport her body. Are you kidding me? Our soldiers come home in body bags or plain pine boxes. They gave the greatest sacrifice to their country and they are never mentioned. They aren't on the news, 20/20, The Today Show, Good Morning America, People Magazine and all the other media outlets. Their funerals aren't televised. We don't even know when their funerals are. I am personally sick of who, we have made our idols. Who should our kids look up to? The drugged out celebrity who dies or the soldier who gave their life for our country. No wonder the world is so screwed up and so are our children & grandchildren. So, Whitney & others, may you rest in peace finally. And to the thousands of soldiers who have died and been buried quietly, may God Bless you and your families. You are not forgotten. God Bless America. Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: A Good Black Man....

Keeping It Real: Good Black Men are indeed all around us.

We pass them on the streets, in the malls, in captivity behind the walls, and in the hall at work. Most we can't see because we say we want a good man, but do we really? We want the flashy or rich guys to buy us the good things. He has to wear all the bling bling or push a Lexus. Sometimes we want the "body by Fisher" or a face for “GQ."  But  as you mature, you realize it's better to find someone who's got your back than someone who  turns your head.

A Good Black Man doesn't agree whole-heartedly with everything you say.  He doesn't just tell you what you want to hear and do the opposite.  He doesn't have to declare how sensitive, sweet, caring, sincere, yada, yada, yada, he is (he won't  have to...because it shows). He has his own opinions & you may clash, but he doesn't have to degrade you to prove he's right.  He even admits at times to being wrong, especially if you are willing to do the same

A Good Black Man is not going to meet every  item on your checklist. He is human with frailties & faults mixed in with all of his sexy, sensual  attributes.  He needs your love & respect.  He needs to feel that you don't have to catch him doing something wrong so you can declare "Aha I knew all along"

A Good Black Man doesn't have to give you a huge Birthday or Valentine gift.  He shows his  love in the ways that are comfortable to him.  Don't judge him by TV standards.  No one is living that Fairytale--for real.

BLACK MEN we salute you, and thank you for who you are, and all you've done.

Pass this along to some of the "Good Black Men" you know, and a few women that need to read it! Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Til We Meet Again...

Keeping It Real: There was big news in Heaven. Michael ran to heaven's gate and said "Whitney what are you doing here?" and she said "I came to sing a duet with you", Aaliyah said "I wanna be in it too". Marvin, Teddy and James asked if they could also step up to the mic. Tupac said "I'll throw a rap verse to that and Biggie can spit the second verse. Etta, Luther and Ray said "what about us?" Of course Heavy D said "I got nuttin but love for ya, Whitney." All of a sudden Nate Dogg dropped a hook and Don Cornelius announced "This is the hippest trip in Paradise... So if u hearing thunder it's cause there is a party in Heaven and it's a stone gas honey." RIP all of you greats...Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: More Black Facts & Tidbits..

Keeping It Real: Alice Walker, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and author of The Color Purple, was born in Eatonton, GA, on Feb. 9th in 1944.

Architect Paul Williams mastered the art of drawing upside down so that he could sit across from — not next to — white clients who didn’t want to sit side-by-side with a black person.

Nelson R. Mandela, South Africa's Black nationalist leader, was released from prison after 27 years on Feb. 11th in 1990. Four years after his release, he was elected President of South Africa.

The NAACP was founded Feb. 12th in 1909 after riots in Springfield, IL. With W.E.B Du Bois as one of its chief organizers, the group originally fought to abolish forced segregation and enforce the 14th and 15th Amendments.

Lawyer Macon Bolling Allen was the first black American Justice of the Peace and the first African-American licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Frederick Augustus Douglass, orator, activist and abolitionist , was born a slave in Tuckahoe, MD, on Feb. 14th in 1817. Douglass was commemorated on a US postage stamp issued on his birthday 150 years later.

Lesson Of The Day: Black History Month Is...

Keeping It Real: Black history month is
A time we celebrate
Retaliate
Recuperate
Cooperate
Let's get this straight
Not all whites were bad
Not all blacks were sad
Some were free
Some fulfilled their dreams
Some racism still goes on in the streets
But it's not as bad as it use to be
Some people choose to unite
Some choose to fight
Fathers tell the stories to their sons
The troubled ones won't put down their guns
Is there anyone who can save this world
Maybe the little ones, the boys and the girls
Mothers tell their daughters about her ancestors
And how some of their masters were violaters
How would you feel
If you disobeyed your master
And he didn't feed you your meal
To read, write, and teach
Was hard to do without the correct grammar or speech
Not to mention that knowledge for a negro was against the law
If you did learn the master beat you until your skin looked raw
On a more happier note
You all know this famous quote
'I have a dream'
Everyone should have a dream
No matter how weird it seems
Believe in yourself, slavery is no more
Because we won the Civil War
YOU can stride for your score..Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Keep It In Perspective

Keeping It Real:

Me (in a tizzy) : God, can I ask you something?

 GOD: Sure.

Me: Promise you won't get mad?

 GOD: I promise.

Me (frustrated): Why did you let so much stuff happen to me today?

 GOD: What do you mean?

Me: Well I woke up late,

 GOD: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start,

 GOD: Okay....

Me (growling): At lunch, they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait

 GOD: Hmmmm..

Me: On the way home, my phone went dead, just as I picked up a call

 GOD: All right

Me (loudly): And to top it all off, when I got home, I just wanted to soak my feet in my foot massager and relax, but it wouldn't work. Nothing went right today! Why did you do that?

GOD: Well let me see..... the death angel was at your bed this morning and I had to send one of the other angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that.

 Me (humbled): Oh...

GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that might have hit you if you were on the road

 Me (ashamed): ............

GOD: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick and I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work

 Me (embarrassed): Oh.....

GOD: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give a false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered

 Me (softly): I see God

GOD: Oh and that foot massager, it had a short that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.

 Me: I'm sorry God.

GOD: Don't be sorry, just learn to trust me.........in all things, the good and the bad

Me: I WILL trust you God

GOD: And don't doubt that my plan for your day is always better than your plan

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, thank you for everything today.

GOD: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I love looking after my children. Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Most Have Forgotten...

Keeping It Real: Some Black men/boys seem to forget all the struggles Black leaders went through for them to be where they are at now! Too many have died for too few to remember! They need to get educated and Black families need to once again, VILLAGE UP, grab a hold of their children and BE PARENTS!!  Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Black History Facts & Tidbits...

Keeping It Real: History has credited Thomas Edison with the invention of the light bulb, but fewer people know about Lewis Latimer's innovations toward its development. Until Latimer's process for making carbon filament, Edison's light bulbs would only burn for a few minutes. Latimer's filament burned for several hours.
In 1938, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt challenged the segregation rules at the Southern Conference on Human Welfare in Birmingham, Alabama, so she could sit next to African-American educator Mary McLeod Bethune, whom she referred to as "her closest friend in her age group."
Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on friend Maya Angelou's birthday on April 4th, 1968. Angelou stopped celebrating her birthday for many years afterward, and sent flowers to King's widow every year until Mrs. King's death in 2006.
Lonnie G. Johnson, an engineer who performed spacecraft system design for NASA, invented the Super Soaker water gun—the number one selling toy in America in 1991.
Frederick Jones held over 60 patents, with most of them pertaining to refrigeration. His portable air conditioner was used in World War II to preserve medicine and blood serum.
Did you know Mark Dean, a black man, along with his co-inventor Dennis Moelle created a microcomputer system with bus control means for peripheral processing devices. This invention allows the use of computer plug-ins like disk drives, speakers, scanners, etc...Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Black Man Cake

THERE WERE SPECIAL INGREDIENTS GOD USED IN MAKING A “GOOD BLACK MAN”.

I'm making a Black man cake, because I'm hungry as hell and the sweet tooth I have only a brotha’ can break the spell. Let me reach into my cupboard to see what I can find, to make a mix that will stick to my stomach and blow a brotha’s mind.

2 cups of Respect me as your woman, wife, lover and friend

1 cup of molasses brown, because he's got to be sweet, mental, deep, chocolate and feet firmly planted on the ground.

Nutmeg is always good to bring a smile to his face

A few cups of The Bible, so he knows about God’s Good Grace.

I won't bite into anything that's not spiritually found, I want him to know the Lord, he can’t be hellbound.

I am adding 2 sticks of butter, because he must have flavor

2 tablespoons of vanilla, something we women savor

I must add eggs so he can do his man thing, that is number one. Can't leave him hanging cause I know he wants his pretty princess and a strong son.

I think I'll add a little hard liquor, cause I want a manly man

Just for the record, you ain’t a MANLY MAN, until you had some black woman tan.

For a responsible man, I'll throw in some big tasty coconuts, so when she busts that outer shell, the savory juice will fill her gut!!

I'll add 3 cups of bravery, 3 cups of honesty & 3 cups of courage and into the oven to bake

Turn it to 425 degrees, set the timer and wait for my REAL BLACK MAN CAKE!!

Now when it's done sistas, I won't share his wealth, but I'm sharing the recipe as I'm consuming this black man cake, ALL BY MYSELF.  Ya Dig?.....

Lesson Of The Day: Life Without Black People

A very humorous and revealing story is told about a group of white people who were fed up with African Americans, so they joined together and wished themselves away. They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of a twilight zone where there is an America without Black People.

At first these white people breathed a sigh of relief.

'At last', they said, 'no more crime, drugs, violence and welfare.'

All of the blacks have gone! Then suddenly, reality set in. The 'NEW
AMERICA' is not  America at all - only a barren land.

1. There are very few crops that have flourished because the nation was built on a slave-supported system.

2. There are no cities with tall skyscrapers because Alexander Mils, a black man, invented the elevator, and without it, one finds great difficulty reaching higher floors.

3. There are few if any cars because Richard Spikes, a black man, invented the automatic gearshift, Joseph Gambol, also black, invented the Super Charge System for Internal Combustion Engines, and Garrett A. Morgan, a black man, invented the traffic signals.

4. Furthermore, one could not use the rapid transit system because its procurer was the electric trolley, which was invented by another black man, Albert R. Robinson.

5. Even if there were streets on which cars and a rapid transit system could operate, they were cluttered with paper because an African American, Charles Brooks, invented the street sweeper..

6. There were few if any newspapers, magazines and books because John Love invented the pencil sharpener, William Purveys invented the fountain pen, and Lee Barrage invented the Type Writing Machine and W. A. Love invented the Advanced Printing Press. They were all, you guessed it, Black.

7. Even if Americans could write their letters, articles and books, they would not have been transported by mail because William Barry invented the Postmarking and Canceling Machine, William Purveys invented the Hand Stamp and Philip Downing invented the Letter Drop.

8. The lawns were brown and wilted because Joseph Smith invented the Lawn Sprinkler and John Burr the Lawn Mower.

9. When they entered their homes, they found them to be poorly ventilated and poorly heated. You see, Frederick Jones invented the Air Conditioner and Alice Parker the Heating Furnace. Their homes were also dim. But of course, Lewis Lattimer later invented the Electric Lamp, Michael Harvey invented the lantern, and Granville T. Woods invented the Automatic Cut off Switch. Their homes were also filthy because Thomas W. Steward invented the Mop and Lloyd P.. Ray the Dust Pan.

10. Their children met them at the door - barefooted, shabby, motley and unkempt.  But what could one expect? Jan E. Matzelinger invented the Shoe Lasting Machine, Walter Sammons invented the Comb, Sarah Boone invented the Ironing Board, and George T. Samon invented the Clothes Dryer.

11. Finally, they were resigned to at least have dinner amidst all of this turmoil. But here again, the food had spoiled because another Black Man, John Standard invented the refrigerator.

Now, isn't that something? What would this country be like without the contributions of Blacks, as African-Americans?

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, 'by the time we leave for work, millions of Americans have depended on the inventions from the minds of Blacks.'

Black history includes more than just slavery, Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey & W.E.B. Dubois. Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Same Sex Marriages...

Keeping It Real: Gay Marriages, whatever happened to the USA freedom to live your life the way you want?

So let's get this straight: Charlie Sheen can make a "porn family", Kelsey Grammer ended his 15 year marriage OVER the phone, Larry King has had 8 divorces, Kim Kardashian's marriage costs 10 million dollars and lasted 72 days, Newt Gingrich had affairs, while his 1st & 2nd wives were very ill, Britney Spears had a 55 hour marriage, Jesse James, Tiger Woods & Ex-President Bill Clinton, while married SLEPT & were having sex with EVERYONE , 43-50% of TRADITIONAL marriages END BUT somehow it is same-sex marriages that is going to destroy the institution of MARRIAGE? REALLY?? SERIOUSLY?? WTF & WTH!!!

I am not gay, bi-sexual nor a lesbian BUT I SUPPORT EQUAL RIGHTS!!! Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Black History Month

Keeping It Real:  February is the month for Black History. Where Blacks have come a long way with Less losses and More victories.

Quoting the Great Dr. Martin Luther King, we shall overcome and free at last, Black History means to me Great Black makers and Great Black makings of the past.

We shall and have overcome many obstacles blocking our stride, Martin Luther King dreamed it, Obama achieved it and he did it with dignity and much pride!

Say it loud, I am Black and Proud. Say it again, I'm proud of my Black Heritage, my Black Skin and Proud to be a Black American!! Ya Dig?...
