Lesson Of The Day: Keeping The Faith...

Keeping It Real: For some of you, 2014 has been trying. There have been unexpected challenges, not blessings. You may have lost a job, a loved one, income, a relationship, a business, a dream, or suffered a setback in your health. Or, 2014 might be the continuation of years of struggle.

We have all been there at some point in our lives. In those times, it’s not easy to believe. It’s not easy to trust God. Not because you lack faith, but because your faith has grown weary. Weary of believing but not seeing results. Weary of waking up to the same circumstances morning after morning. Weary of barely holding on to hope.

Getting weary in your faith is not a sin. Pretty much every patriarch of the faith became weary in believing at some point. God expects it, which is why He said even the young grow weary (Isaiah 40:30). Weariness is actually a part of the faith process. If something is worth believing for, we’ll get exasperated with it at some point. Amen... Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Believe In Yourself...

Keeping It Real:

Things To Remember:

Success is an attitude.
Whatever your mind can believe and conceive, you can achieve.
Dream great dreams and work to make them come true.
You are unique and special.
Never affirm self-limitations.
To accomplish great things, you must believe, dream, plan and then act.
Yes you can! ( it is not just Obama's slogan)
Believing is magic.
You can always better your previous test!
You don't know what you can do, until you try!
There is no failure except in not trying.
Defeat may test you, it need not stop you.
If at first you don't succeed, try another approach.
For every obstacle, there is a solution.
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Make it happen. Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Be Awake & Sober In The Lord...

Keeping It Real: So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing (1 Thessalonians 5:6-11).
How often have you tried to fit in? I believe this is a part of who we are.  We all want to feel as though we belong, but don’t you know we do belong.  We belong to God.  But yet, we feel we need to be accepted and fit into what society says is the “norm”.  But their “norm” is not God’s norm.  In fact, God tells us that we are different, “we have been set apart” (Psalm 4:3).  A chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people..(1 Peter 2:9).
Because we have been set apart, because we are His chosen we need to be sober minded at all times.  Not only sober minded but we must also learn to encourage one another.  When we come together week after week, we develop relationships with one another. The word of God warns us not only to be watchful of our own hearts, thoughts, words and actions but those of our brothers and sisters.  I now this is an old concept but we are truly our brother’s and our sister’s keeper!
As we develop in Christ, we also develop with our brother’s and sister’s.  This is our family and we need to learn to come together in unity and harmony.  We need to learn to lead an ear to the joys as well as the pains of our family members.  When one hurts we all hurt, when one rejoices, we all rejoice – Amen.
Be devoted to one another in love.  Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need.  Practice hospitality (Romans 12:9-13). Amen....Be Blessed! Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Free Yourself...

Keeping It Real: Free yourself from the complexities and drama of your life. Simplify. Look within. Within ourselves we all have the gifts and talents we need to fulfill the purpose we've been blessed with! Ya Dig?....

Lesson Of The Day: Growth...

Keeping It Real: There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. "Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."

Today may there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us. Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Spoken Like A Woman Fed Up...

Keeping It Real: I'm tired of looking out of my window, seeing shadows of you, and I can't cruise around with my girls, because I'm constantly checking out my rear view.

You calling, breathing all hard, like I can't hear you, and every time I hit the clubs, you just happened to be there too.

All I ever wanted was to be with you, but when I needed you, I had to compete with the clubs, drugs, the streets, XBOX and PS2.  Out all night chasing women with your weak ass crew, but I guess when you're in Rome, you do what the Romans do.

Uh, they go home, alone, just like you, wishing they would of held on, just like you. Probably calling and playing on phones, just like you. I'm so thru dealing with weak ass brothas, just like you. See I done had a few brothas, just like you.

I had the ballers calling claiming they were coming thru. I had the CEO's bring me dough because he always had something to prove. I had the so called God man, that thought he could do everything God can, so he was closer to God than the church man. I had the meet me at the poetry spot down to earth man, I had the brotha from the club who was only good for a fuck. I had a street brotha who  kept claiming he was down on his luck. I had a player with no gold , no heart just game .I had the 24/7 brotha in the studio on his way to fame. I had a control freak that thought he could keep me on a chain. I had a brotha' that lied so much I don't even know his real name. At the end of the night, they all made me feel the same. I had a million things to lose and not a damn thing to gain.

See I told you I need you and you hump shoulders and shrug, then I tell you, I'm leaving and you call my bluff. I say a million men want me, you say they can have you then, so when you beg for me to come back, I tell you I got a man! Who is not just my lover, but also my friend. He is the closet person to me so I call him my next of kin.

I know you think you own this, but guess what he stepped up and in and represented for all men even those that act likes boys but we still call men and to think you're gonna fall back in and feed me bullshit, sprinkle it with game on it. When he hit it, he wrote his name on it, see I was committed when he put his brain on it!! He and I will parade these streets and I'll be damn if I let you rain on it.

Look I know you have your regrets and I'm not gonna throw it in your face, hell I wish the you the best BUT him for you, that's like more for less and I just can't do it; you had your chance and you blew it!

Deep inside I think you knew it was killing me, but silly me I couldn't see the forest for the trees and I didn't know I was cut so deep until I began to bleed. I guess they left out all the snakes in the story about the birds and the bees..

So you can cry me a river, cry me a sea but this is the last time I love a man that ain't got no love for me...Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Black Cop vs White Cop...

Keeping It Real: Why is it, you see white cops always on the internet, in the news, newspaper, TV getting caught beating the HELL out of folks (mostly Blacks), getting caught with their hand in the cookie jar or doing something unethical and being a man of the law? We see black cops on a RARE instance getting caught beating the hell out of white folks!! Even in predominantly Black cities, you do not hear of the black cops beating a person brutally, be them white or black! Why is this? Yeah, some get caught doing unethical things and not righting when they are wrong, but why don't we see them beating white folks up like the white cops do to blacks? Folks wonder why Blacks have a problem with cops and supposedly they are in position to protect and serve, more like some people are getting served than protected! Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Life's Impossibilities

Keeping It Real: With God, ALL IS POSSIBLE....Ya Dig?...

Life's Impossibilities

When life seems impossible,

with its demands, burdens and cares

when everything looks dark and bleak

take it all ~ to God in your prayers.

For He holds your soul in His hand,

and your life is in His heart

though you may feel small and weak

He will keep you from falling apart.

He will restore your weary soul,

and bring fresh comforts to your life

with new power and the strength

to give Him ~ your grief and strife.

Oh, the stumbling blocks are many,

and you're bound to fall some days

but He'll not let you plummet into ruin

He will not let your feet  slip away.

Lesson Of The Day: Help Me To Understand About Gays/Homosexuals/Lesbians...

Keeping It Real: Now, a gay man or woman, homosexual man or lesbian likes the same gender as a partner, right? So why do men act like women and women act like men when they are *gay* but yet, this is the type of person they DO NOT WANT to be with?

I know, all gay men do not act like women, MOST DO and all lesbians do act like men, MOST DO!, but why would they want the type of person they do not and or refuse to be with?

Lesbians use dildos, WHY?, if they don't want a penis and homosexuals have anal sex, WHY?, it's almost like entering a vagina!

I haven't had any gay/homosexual/lesbian experiences, nor do I care too and have absolutely nothing against people whom are gay/homosexual/lesbian! To each his own is what I say but yet I still don't get it!!! Ya Dig?..

Lesson of The Day: Come As You Are...

Keeping It Real: And so it was, when those bearing the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatten sheep.  Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.  So David and all the house of Israel brought up to the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of trumpets (2 Samuel 6:14-15).

When you have seen the mighty hand of God working in your life and in the life of others you can not help but rejoice.  This was David's reaction to what he had already seen and known God to do.  He had seen God's favor and God's wrath! It was said that anyone who had the ark of the LORD near, was happy.

I thought it strange the emphasis made to David's clothing.  So I looked into why it was mentioned.  It was because on this occasion David laid aside his royal robes, and put on plan linen. David laid aside his royal status and acknowledge the righteousness of God.

Yes sometimes we simply have to lay aside who the world says we are, and just come to God just as we are. Have you ever noticed anyone simply shouting or showing outward expressions of praise.  Well that is because God is still in the blessing business.  God blessed David and He is still blessing us today - start shouting like David.  Dance with all your might and watch God change things in YOUR life. Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: MOST Young Black People & Police Officials...

Keeping It Real: It is a given, that MOST Black people, be them, from 10-100years old kinda fear the police! We are intimidated by them because of what has been going on for years in OUR community BUT NOT all OFFICERS are bad cops!! That's like saying because one Black person did something wrong, WE ALL ARE BAD, right? WRONG!!!

I have a brother, who is a county Sheriff and his wife is a local police turned detective where they live at and  when you hear some of the stories they have to go through, you do get empathy for police! God FORBID. they have to pull over or arrest a member of their OWN family, then they are LOW DOWN DIRTY DOGS, even though the family member IS WRONG!!!

Police get a bad rap JUST BECAUSE and when they do something wrong, then they all are bad but when they do good, then it's cool! They arrest a person who murdered your child, they are the best folks in the world, or even catch a person breaking into your home BUT LET THEM PULL you over for speeding which you know you were doing or anything that would warrant them arresting or pulling you over, then they are dirty dogs!!

The YOUNG generation has a a bad image and taste for cops and it is sad, that the majority of them have NO respect for police officials and the minute, it is *white* cops doing THEIR JOB, not to mention, all the crazies we have out here, they are wrong! I don't understand it and maybe it is not meant for me to understand but ALL COPS ARE NOT bad, just like all Black aren't stupid and all whites aren't smart! Ya Dig?...

Happy Birthday My Son Donte....

Screaming Happy Birthday to my one and only son, Donte' Davis!!! I love you son and wish you an enjoyable, Blessed and fun day! Love you so much....

Lesson of The Day: Blacks And Reality Shows/Stations (VH1, Bravo, Oxygen, MTV, etc.)

Keeping It Real: I find it very amusing that some Black people think the stations like Oxygen, Bravo, VH1, MTV, TVone, WEtv just to name a few put Blacks people in a horrible way when they are aired on their stations and reality shows!

1. They have to cast for these shows, the stations do not walk around with camera crews just filming folks without their permission!

2. They also have to sign a CONTRACT to be seen on a reality show!

3. How can a reality show and station put Black people in a bad light if they never cast for it or sign a contract?

For the record, these stations have other races reality shows as well, so are they putting Black people in a bad way or any race that is foolish enough to sign up and have a camera crew follow you around and film your EVERYTHING??

It's entertainment and if they want to entertain folks with their life and lifestyle, so be it, right? Ya Dig???

Lesson of The Day: God Is Truly Amazing...

Keeping It Real: As for God, His way is perfect.  The Word of the Lord has stood the test.  He is a covering for all who go to Him for a safe place.  For Who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock except our God?  It is God Who covers me with strength and makes my way perfect.  He makes my feet like the feet of deer.  And He sets me on my high places.  He teaches me how to fight, so that I can use a bow of brass.  You have also given me the covering that saves me. Your right hand holds me up.  And Your care has made me great (Psalm 18:30-35).

What  a wonderful scripture of encouragement about just how marvelous and loving my God, your God truly is!

I was thinking this morning about the various season of life.  Some times we are in that season of maturing.  During this season God is growing us, molding us, and possibility disciplining us.  Sometimes that season can get very difficult but yet, God continues to strengthen us even when we are disobedient to His Will.  You might not have experienced this but I have.  I have heard the Word and yet, I was disobedient.

But thanks be to God, He continued to strength me through His Word, by conviction and direction.  Yes, God's Word is powerful and it has the power to do just what is needed in our time of maturing.

When I think of discipline I typically think of how I discipline my children.  And this typically involves a bit of though love - God is no different.  Sometimes to get us to where we need to be, we have to encounter some tough love from God. Tough love can be difficult at times, but for us to grow in Christ we must learn to stop, look and yes, listen.

In Psalms 18, the Word of God tells me that not only does He strengthen me, but He gives me endurance to withstand - He provides me a safe place in Him, and He makes my way perfect.  Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Black History Facts, Black Man Lost..

Keeping It Real: Why is it that when some Black men dates a NON Black woman then dates a Black woman again, his opinion of his sistahs change?

You want to date a non-Black woman?, I have no problem with that but there's no need to disrespect us because you have lost your way!

Our aggressiveness used to be the STRONG woman you so desired! Our need to be independent suddenly becomes we want to be THE MAN! Our hearty laugh becomes we are too loud!

In my opinion, the Black men that find us lacking is saying a lot about their own feeling,s ESPECIALLY if they have Black grannies, mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, nieces and girl cousins! It speaks volumes to me!

No need to put them on a pedestal,  just to "justify" why you are dating out! Just date them without dissing your sisters! Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Good Black Man....

Keeping It Real: Good Black Man are indeed all around us.

We pass them on the streets, in the malls, in captivity behind the walls, and in the hall at work.  Most we can't see because we say we want a good man, but do we really? We want the flashy or rich guys to buy us the good things. He has to wear all the bling bling or push a Lexus.  Sometimes we want the "body by Fisher" or a face for “GQ."  But  as you mature, you realize it's better to find someone who's got your back than someone who  turns your head.

A Good Black Man doesn't agree wholeheartedly with everything you say.  He doesn't just tell you what you want to hear and do the opposite.  He doesn't have to declare how sensitive, sweet, caring, sincere, yada, yada, yada, he is (he won't  have to...because it shows). He has his own opinions & you may clash, but he doesn't have to degrade you to prove he's right.  He even admits at times to being wrong, especially if you are willing to do the same

A Good Black Man is not going to meet every  item on your checklist. He is human with frailties & faults mixed in with all of his sexy, sensual  attributes.  He needs your love & respect.  He needs to feel that you don't have to catch him doing something wrong so you can declare "Aha I knew all along"

A Good Black Man doesn't have to give you a huge Birthday or Valentine gift.  He shows his  love in the ways that are comfortable to him.  Don't judge him by TV standards.  No one is living that Fairytale--for real.

BLACK MEN we salute you, and thank you for who you are, and all you've done.

Pass this along to some of the "Good Black Men" you know, and a few women that need to read it! Ya Dig?....

Lesson Of The Day: Black History Facts, Henry Sampson, Cell Phone Inventor

Keeping It Real:  Did you know that we have Henry Sampson to thank for the invention of the cell phone? He is the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering in the United States. On July 6th, 1971, Henry T. Sampson invented the "gamma-electric cell", which pertains to Nuclear Reactor use.

Mobile Communications took a big step forward in 1983 with the i
nvention of the Cellular System regulating the portable telephones, which use radio waves to transmit and receive audio signals. Before this time, mobile telephone service in the United States, consisting mainly of car phones, was extremely limited because metropolitan areas had only one antenna for these purposes.

He holds patents related to solid rocket motors and conversion of nuclear energy into electricity. He also pioneered a study of internal ballistics of solid rocket motors using high-speed photography.

He was also a producer of documentary films on early black filmmakers and films. Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: Black History Facts, Blacks Should Be Outraged....

Keeping It Real: We should be outraged at our own people for killing off the dreams and hopes of an entire race.

I will never for the life of me UNDERSTAND how we as a Black race gets so riled up, confused, angry, irritated, ready to start a riot when a Black person is killed by another race!!

Regardless, if it was intentional, how can we as a race stand by on a DAILY basis and hear of and or see the SAME KILLINGS, sometimes for NO rhyme or reason, day in and day out, in our own community/neighborhood and BE OKAY WITH IT?!

People rallied, put on hoodies and was outraged when George Zimmerman killed Trayvon but do you all KNOW HOW MANY BLACK BOYS, INNOCENT CHILDREN & PEOPLE have been killed SENSELESSLY by Black people since Trayvon has died? Too DAMN MANY to count!

How many hoodies were worn when a BABY was killed because somebody was shooting at HER FATHER, who didn't get shot, but his child was killed? What about the girl that went to the White House and met President Obama and then a few weeks later, she was shot in the back & killed, what about the baby that was shot & killed lying in her bed because of random gunfire? All of these incidents happened in a BLACK neighborhood and all of these PEOPLE WERE KILLED BY BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!

I say, if a Black man saw a white man kill a Black man, would HE TELL? Hellllllllllllllll yeah, he would and wouldn't that be considered snitching?

Somebody, PLEASE HELP & MAKE ME understand, why THIS IS OKAY???? Where is THE OUTRAGE for these innocent folks, what?, it doesn't matter because their killers were BLACK??? I don't understand and I really, believe IN MY HEART, that ANY explanation GIVEN will NOT make me understand, because it is NOT RIGHT AND most definitely fits the double standard rules, in my opinion!!

Lesson Of The Day: Amen, Amen, Amen....

Keeping It Real: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation ( 1 Corinthians 5:17-18).

Let's take a poll - how many woman receiving this e-mail have a dress, a pair of jeans, maybe a cute skirt and you know, yes you know, you will never every get back into?  OK - I think we all have at least one secret item that we just can't give up.  We hold on to it as if our body is going to miraculously forget we are not getting any younger.  And why is it as you get older - those pounds just have to gravity to the mid section.  Yes they do. Anyway - we all have stuff we don't want to get rid of for one reason or another.  It seems to just be in our nature.  But when we come to Christ - we are transformed and all becomes brand new.

Or are we still holding on to that old stuff? Now when I am speaking of stuff, I am not referring to an article of clothing, but stuff that we carry throughout our life just keeping us bound.

I heard this analogy today and would like to share it with my Sisters.  If you ever just take a moment and speak to a homeless person, they typically have a lot of stuff in some sort of bag or maybe even a shopping cart. They carry all of their most precious moments with them.  Maybe some not so precious but never the less they care around with them their entire life - things they hold dear to them.  But don't we do the same thing.  Maybe we don't look at heartache as precious,  but we carry it around.  Maybe you don't look at divorce as precious, but we carry the pain and guilt of that relationship around with us.  Maybe you don't look at horrible name calling or negativity as precious, but we carry them around with us every where we go.

My Sisters - let it go!  You have been set free by the Blood of Christ - all things become brand new - start living in your newness - God is more than able to supply ALL that you needs.

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36). Ya Dig?..
