Lesson Of The Day: In the Midst

Keeping It Real:

In the midst of my pain
Do not allow my living be in vain.
For I must not kick and shove
I must be harmless as a dove.
Yet I need Your wisdom from above
For the storms are raging and the waters
Threaten to over take me...the dark
Clouds are gathering...but in the midst
Of it all I see a glimmer of light..yes!
In the midst of the angry billows, the light
Is getting even brighter.

In the midst.. I see you Oh Lord the Lover
Of my soul, who in the midst brings peace
To my soul. Calming all my fears in the midst!
You bring me joy in the midst of my pain.
For in the midst of my sorrow You have made
Me to dance before You..and Oh the joy
That overflows my soul in the midst of this
Wealthy place you have brought me into! Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Tame The Tongue...

Keeping It Real: Watch your words and hold your tongue; you'll save yourself a lot of grief (Proverbs 21:23 MSG)

Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble (Proverbs 21:23 ESV)

A time to tear, and time to sew, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak (Ecclesiastes 3:7).

A time to tear; a time to repair; a time to be quiet; a time to speak up (Ecclesiastes 3:7 LV)

I have giving you a couple of translations of two bible versus.  All similar but because of the wording, easier to understand.  Basically as we tell our children, zip-it, lock -t, put it in your pocket!  And as adults we should, at times, follow the same lead.  Have you ever wondered why God designed us to have one tongue and two ears.  So we can hear and not always speak.  Boy oh boy, my mouth can truly find its way into some trouble.  So I am studying how to be a better listener and not so much of a talker. Don't get me wrong, it is o.k to speak, but often times we speak from our emotions and its not always a pretty outcome.

If what we do is to bring Honor and Glory to Our Father, then we should use our mouth to spread the good news of Him.  We need to use our mouth to cultivate the fruit of the spirit not only in our own lives but in the lives of others around us.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21).

God wants to elevate us in our walk, but we can't seem to tame that tongue.  You need more fruit in your life? speak life over death.  Stop speaking negatively about your own situation and others.  Speak life, speak the Word of God over your life and watch the atmosphere change. Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: You Don't Know MY Pain In Death & Grief...

Keeping It Real: Why do I see people post when they have loved one that have died, that if you didn't have the same genre of person, die, that you don't know their grief or pain! In other words, if their Mother just died and you lost your Grandmother, your pain isn't anything like what they are feeling, because you didn't lose your Mother!!!  REALLY? So if my grandmother raised me and I didn't really have a relationship with my mother and because my mother is still alive, I don't know grief? REALLY? Death is death, right? It hurts regardless of who died, when a person passes away, how can I say, your grief and or pain is not like mine! Hurt is hurt and pain is pain, right? What if my mother was on crack and my oldest sibling raised me, if that sibling dies, I shouldn't be allowed to grieve for my sibling like you grieve for your mother because it was my sister or brother? Really?, again, I ask, death is death, right? It just irks me when I see people telling other people, your pain cant be like my pain because I lost my mother and you lost your grandmother! When a person says, they know what you are going through or understand your pain, it is being said as a condolence or a bereaved statement! Ya Dig?....

Lesson Of The Day: Your Faith....

Keeping It Real: For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

Have you ever been tested?  Even been tempted?  Well of course you have and so was Jesus.  But what did he do?  He spoke the Word of God.

When we face obstacles, and you will face them, you must be prepared.  Today, just as Christians before us, have conquered and fought the good fight, we must also carry that same courage.  We are just in a different era of time.  God changes not, just man.  Man changes but also does the adversary's crafty schemes.  When we say God changes NOT, this is speaking of His nature.  God is Holy, God is all knowing but do not get it twisted, the era of time has no reflection on what God can do and will do to protect His own.  All the devices and technology has no power on God.  God is all powerful - just the utterance of His Word - changes the very atmosphere.

So when you find yourself in a pinch, and you don't know your way out try this.  Jesus stood as a man, before the adversary, and said, "It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4).  But it is written - very powerful.  God has made us promises, He shall and will protect you!  I have included a few Bible Verses about courage:

Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.

1 Chronicles 28:20 - "Be strong and courageous, and do the work.  Do no t be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.

Isaiah 41:10 - So do not fear, for I am with you; do not e dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Matthew 10:26 - Therefore do no fear them.  For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.

Mathew 11:29-30 - Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

1 Corinthians 16:13 - Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.

There is absolutely nothing that God has assigned your hands to complete that He has not completely prepared you for.  Lean on the Word of God, when obstacles come - use the Word of God! Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of The Day: 8 Simple Cold Weather Safety Tips....

Keeping It Real: Extremely low temperatures are on the way and we want you to be ready. Here are some tips that can keep you and your home safe.
  1. Make sure all appliances and heating equipment, such as a furnace, water heater or stove, are inspected and operating properly, and operate all pieces of equipment according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Never use stoves, ovens or outdoor grills as a source of heat.
  3. Provide adequate ventilation when using fireplaces or un-vented space heaters.
  4. If you are using a fireplace, use a glass or metal fire screen large enough to catch sparks and rolling logs.
  5. If you are using a space heater, place it on a level, hard surface and keep anything flammable at least three feet away from things such as paper, clothing, bedding, curtains or rugs.
  6. Turn off space heaters and make sure fireplace embers are out before leaving the room or going to bed.  Using secondary heating sources, such as space heaters, can increase the chance of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  7. Protect your pipes - run water, even at a trickle, to help prevent your pipes from freezing. Open the kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. Keep the garage doors closed if there are water lines in the garage. **Be sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals out of the reach of children.
  8. Check your carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors to ensure they are operating properly. Ya Dig?....
