Lesson Of The Day: Remembrance Of The Newtown Children ....

Keeping It Real: Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at
God's house."when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT." Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Boomerang Effect...

Keeping It Real: This is a note of some serious observation. Some folks just don't get it, that all that negative energy they put out toward others is just like a boomerang. Lesson Of The Day: Let Us Pray...

Keeping It Real:

God, this world is so hostile!! And often times violence and pain falls on too many good and innocent people. As parents, we see things like this and these threats are sometimes immobilizing. We cannot insure the safety of our own children. Our reach is too short and we can never even anticipate all the risks they might face. Our fears for our children – and for ourselves seeing
our children in danger or pain – can overwhelm us.

God, when we come to the end of our ability to control things we turn to You. We ask for Your protection over our children, over their choices, over the friends they make, over the encounters they have with other adults. God, stand guard. We do not always understand how Your protection works, still we ask for Your presence in the lives of our children.

‘The Lord is my refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.’ This is the promise we claim for our children. Be ever present with them, and keep them from danger and sickness and violence and foolishness. Send angels to be beside them today and every day. When we can’t trust ourselves, we trust You, Father.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come to You now with broken hearts over this terrible tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. We grieve along with those who are directly involved, whose loved ones have been hurt or killed.

We lift up this entire community and ask You to bring peace and comfort to all involved. We ask You to bring a spirit of forgiveness to this community. Please bring their hearts together as one and help them through this terrible time.

Lord we love You, and know Your hand is on those who are uncertain, and terrified. Please bring them peace. In Jesus' name.... Amen! Ya Dig?..

Lesson Of he Day: Black Women And The Police...

Keeping It Real: I find that a lot of *Black* women think, it is against the LAW to call the police on a man if he has beaten the crap out of you! WHY? I'll never understand it!

If a man hits my mother, sister, daughter, female cousin, Aunt, Grandma, niece or any female relative, I feel like they SHOULD BREAK THEIR FINGER POINTING!!!!

If he doesn't care enough about you to beat you damn near an inch of your life, do
it in front of friends (his and yours), in front of your children, then why should you care if the police is involved and he takes his ass to jail?

I'm just saying, if man hits me, enough so that I think he has hurt me and I am afraid, I am calling the police on his ass! OK!!!

Lesson Of The Day: Open Letter From A Mother To Her Daughter...

Keeping It Real: My dear girl, the day you see, me getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through.

When we talk, if I repeat the same thing a thousand times, don’t interrupt to say: “You've said the same thing a minute ago”... Just listen, please. Try to remember the times when you were little and I would read the same story night after night until you would fall asleep.

When I don’t want to take a bath, don’t be mad and don’t embarrass me. Remember when I had to run after you making excuses and trying to get you to take a shower when you were just a girl?

When you see how ignorant I am when it comes to new technology, give me the time to learn and don’t look at me that way... remember, honey, I patiently taught you how to do many things like eating appropriately, getting dressed, combing your hair and dealing with life’s issues every day.

The day you see I am getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through.  If I occasionally lose track of what we’re talking about, give me the time to remember and if I can’t, don’t be nervous, impatient or arrogant. Just know in your heart that the most important thing for me is to be with you.

And when my old, tired legs don’t let me move as quickly as before, give me your hand the same way I offered mine to you when you first walked. When those days come, don’t feel sad... just be with me and understand me while I get to the end of my life with love.

I’ll cherish and thank you for the gift of time and joy we shared. With a big smile and the huge love I’ve always had for you, I just want to say, I love you... my darling daughter. Your Mom! Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Thyroid Cancer....

Keeping It Real:  Dr. Oz had a show on the fastest growing cancer in women, thyroid cancer. It was a very interesting program and he mentioned that the increase could possibly be related to the use of dental x-rays and mammograms. He demonstrated that on the apron the dentist puts on you for your dental x-rays there is a little flap that can be lifted up and wrapped around your neck. Many dentists don't bother to use it. Also, there is something called a "thyroid guard" for use during mammograms. By coincidence, I had my yearly mammogram yesterday. I felt a little silly, but I asked about the guard and sure enough, the technician had one in a drawer. I asked why it wasn't routinely used. Answer: "I don't know. You have to ask for it." Well, if I hadn't seen the show, how would I have known to ask? We need to pass this on to our daughters, nieces, mothers and all our female friends and husbands tell your wives !! I just did, now you send it on to your list. Someone was nice enough to forward this to me. I hope you pass this on to your friends and family. Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: Idris Elba As James Bond 007...

Keeping It Real: Although the latest flick Skyfall hasn’t hit theaters in US yet, reports are already in FULL EFFECT as to who will step into Agent 007′s shoes when Daniel Craig retires.

America & The WORLD are ready for a BLACK James Bond! Fast Forward to what the LADIES and some men want, word has it that the fine, chocolate, Londoner Idris Elba may be the first black James Bond. He is one of my all time favorite celebs! He most definitely can handle and is ready for the part! He doesn't have to imitate an English accent, he is a Brit!

If Idris does land the iconic role, he’s made it clear that he doesn't want to be called Black James Bond! He said: "I just don’t want to be the black James Bond. Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond, and Daniel Craig wasn’t the blue-eyed James Bond, so if I played him, I don’t want to be called the black James Bond.” We hear ya and feel ya BUT whenever there is a FIRST for the Black race, it has to get that label, sorry, we fought hard to overcome many obstacles and if you are chosen, you WILL BE THE FIRST BLACK JAMES BOND!!!!

Waiting in anticipation with fingers, toes, eyes and legs crossed to see if Idris will become the next 007, but I think he is definitely up to the job.

If you're on Facebook, there is page dedicated strictly for people wanting Idris Elba for the next James Bond, join us and rally for him! http://www.facebook.com/pages/We-Want-Idris-Elba-for-James-Bond/239813472708882?fref=ts

Lesson Of The Day: My 1st Time Voting Experience...

Keeping It Real: I remember the 1st time I voted, I was 22 years old in 1980, had just graduated from college and would you all BELIEVE my 1st Presidential vote was REPUBLICAN?!! I voted FOR Ronald Reagan! Hahahahahaha I got to meet him and hear him firsthand because I worked at the RNC Hotel (Detroit Plaza/Renaissance Ctr) in Detroit!

Met Gerald Ford, Spiro Agnew, Nancy Reagan, Betty Ford and there were so many SS men running around the place! I must say, it was a great experience but my next Presidential vote from 1984 on til this day has been Democrat! Reagan, may he rest in peace GAVE a great speech and had me fooled the 1st time, 2nd go round, even though he won, I voted against him!

I remember walking into the voting place clueless and felt my heart swell when I cast my 1st time vote and still feel a sense of accomplishment when I vote!

Being a woman and a woman of color means A HELLUVA lot because women weren't allowed to vote at first and neither were Blacks! So whenever I cast a vote, it is done with PRIDE, GRACIOUSNESS & KNOWLEDGE!!! Ya Dig?...

Keeping It Real: What happened to our culture? ALL Men need to BUT in this reference, we are speaking of Black men! Stop abusing women. Stop hitting them. Stop cursing at them. Stop shooting each other. Stop putting tattoos on your face and neck (women too). Stop laughing at knowledge. Stop sagging your damn pants. Stop thinking it's OK to be an asshole and doing fucked up things to be a good guy. Stop listening to people you THINK are your friends and go with your God given instincts. Pick up a book. Respect your women and each other. Respect YOURSELF. When you know better, you are to DO Better. No wonder so many of you choose to put the word "Lil'" before your name... Lil' Wayne, Lil' Reese., etc.. because in the scheme of things, you are LIL MEN. I know a lot of us were dealt a shitty hand--fathers not around, drug culture, poverty, etc... but RISE THE FUCK UP, OPEN your EYES and take control of YOUR life, YOUR image and YOUR growth. Do it for yourself and the future of our culture. It's all we have. Ya Dig?...

Lesson Of The Day: The Presidency....

Keeping It Real: 4 years ago when President Obama was running for President, I told Democrats and Republicans, that he was going to win!

WHY?, because if you can go back in time to when you were a child and I am speaking as a Black person, when you asked a black child back in the day, what they wanted to be when they grew up?, President was in the TOP 3 as their picks! Fast forward 30-60 years to 2008 and we HAD THE OPPORTUNITY to put a Black man in the White House, that all those STAUNCH DIE HARD *BLACK* Republicans that Mccain thought were voting from him, DIDN'T!!

When they got behind those curtains, with NO PRYING EYES, they said, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee'it, I am NOT passing up HISTORY, something we have been waiting for all of OUR LIVES, clicked Obama! Who will find out I actually vote for Obama?, even though I am a Republican and supposed to vote for Mccain!!

When Colin Powell put his name on the dotted line, I knew then, IT WAS A DONE DEAL!!! Here we are, 4 years later and you all think, Mitt will become President, SAME BLACK MAN, same BLACK people!!  Y'all about to get GOT again! Mmmm Hmmmm Ya Dig?....

Lesson Of The Day: Chrissy & Mr. Jones...

Keeping It Real: Hmmmmm, seems to me, Chrissy has OUTGROWN the *thug* life! I truly believe she has outgrown Jim Jones and needs to move on to better pastures!

She oozes style and finesse, while Jim seems to be a *TAGALONG*  now! He has fallen off musically and financially! Come on now, what "thug* gangsta rapper wants to be in a reality show??

Chrissy is constantly needing some ME time, hmmmm, wonder why? Could it be that she loves Jim and is grateful for him, giving her, her start and being gracious about it? She doesn't want a baby or marriage with him now? and the 1st two seasons of Love and HipHop that aired, that is what her goal was??

Lesson Of The Day: His Eye Is On The Sparrow..
