Keeping It Real: And so it
was,
when those bearing the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, that he
sacrificed oxen and fatten sheep. Then David danced before the LORD
with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.
So David and all the house of Israel brought up to the ark of the LORD
with shouting and with the sound of trumpets (2 Samuel 6:14-15).
When
you have seen the mighty hand of God working in your life and in the
life of others you can not help but rejoice. This was David's reaction
to what he had already seen and known God to do. He had seen God's
favor and God's wrath! It was said that anyone who had the ark of the
LORD near, was happy.
I
thought it strange the emphasis made to David's clothing. So I looked
into why it was mentioned. It was because on this occasion David laid
aside his royal robes, and put on plan linen. David laid aside his royal
status and acknowledge the righteousness of God.
Yes
sometimes we simply have to lay aside who the world says we are, and
just come to God just as we are. Have you ever noticed anyone simply
shouting or showing outward expressions of praise. Well that is because
God is still in the blessing business. God blessed David and He is
still blessing us today - start shouting like David. Dance with all
your might and watch God change things in YOUR life. Ya Dig?..
